Household Junk Pickup That Starts With a Price, Not a Guess
Most homeowners call us at one of three moments: a move-out deadline, a garage that finally became unusable, or a single heavy item that two people cannot safely carry down a flight of stairs.
All three are routine work for us — and all three start the same way. You tell us what you have, we give you a price before we touch anything, and we do the lifting.
What We Haul
If it fits in the truck and it's legal, the answer is usually yes. Here's the greatest-hits list:
●Furniture & Mattresses
Couches, sectionals, recliners, dressers, bed frames — and the mattress you've been meaning to replace since 2019.
●Appliances
Fridges, washers, dryers, stoves, dishwashers. We disconnect, we carry, we don't scratch your floors on the way out.
●Garage & Shed Contents
The "I'll sort it someday" pile. Boxes, broken tools, mystery bins, the treadmill that's now a coat rack.
●Yard Debris & Brush
Branches, pine needles, dead bushes, storm fall. If the monsoon put it on your lawn, we'll take it off your lawn.
●Exercise Equipment
Treadmills, ellipticals, weight benches, Bowflexes. Heavy, awkward, and exactly the kind of thing that ruins a Saturday.
●TVs & Electronics
Old tube TVs, dead printers, tangles of cables. Electronics get recycled, not landfilled.
●Hot Tubs
Yes, really. We cut them down and haul them out — you just point.
●Sheds & Remodel Leftovers
Torn-down sheds, drywall scraps, old carpet and flooring, the bathroom demo you finished in March.
●Household Clutter
Estate cleanouts, eviction cleanouts, "the spare room." We've seen it all and we don't judge — we load.
What We Can't Take (and Where It Should Go)
We'd rather tell you straight than show up and shrug. We cannot haul hazardous materials:
●Wet paint & solvents
Latex or oil-based, still liquid. Dried-out cans are a different story — ask us.
●Motor oil & automotive fluids
Used oil, antifreeze, brake fluid, transmission fluid.
●Pesticides & pool chemicals
Anything with a skull on the label, basically.
●Propane tanks
Pressurized tanks are a hard no on our truck.
●Car batteries
Lead-acid batteries need a battery recycler, not a junk truck.
●Asbestos
Requires licensed abatement. Do not touch it — call a pro.
●Medical & biohazard waste
Sharps, biological material, anything from a medical setting.
●Ammunition
Explosives of any kind. Obviously.
How Pricing Works
No hourly meter running while we work. No "we'll see how it goes." Here's the whole system:
Priced by volume, not by the hour
You pay for how much truck space your junk takes up. A bigger pile costs more than a smaller pile. That's the entire formula.
Price before we touch anything
We look at the job, we give you a number, you say yes or no. The number doesn't change halfway through the load.
Single items from $150
One couch, one mattress, one fridge — single-item pickups typically run $150.
Veterans & first responders: up to 15% off
Active military, veterans, firefighters, EMTs, law enforcement. Just mention it when you book.
Sedona jobs: $500 minimum
The drive is the drive. Sedona and the Village of Oak Creek start at $500.
Big unknowns get a range, not a flat quote
Hoarder-level or can't-see-it-all jobs get a price range from photos — never a flat number sight unseen. We nail down the exact price on site.
What the Appointment Looks Like
Four steps. Most jobs are done in under an hour.
- Walk-through & price confirmation
We look at everything you're getting rid of, confirm the price we quoted (or adjust it honestly if the pile changed), and you approve it. Nothing moves until you say go.
- We load
Our crew does all the lifting, carrying, and Tetris-ing it into the truck. You can watch, or go make coffee. Your call.
- We sweep
We broom-sweep the area when we're done. The spot should look better than when we arrived — that's the bar.
- We haul
Donations get dropped at donation, recyclables at recycling, and the true junk goes to the landfill. You never think about it again.
Where It All Ends Up
Our order of operations, every load:
1. Donate
Usable furniture, working appliances, and good-condition household goods get sorted for donation. Somebody else's upgrade.
2. Recycle
Metals, electronics, and recyclable materials go to recyclers — not the landfill.
3. Landfill — last
Only the true junk, the stuff nobody can use and nothing can be made from, goes to the landfill.

Questions People Actually Ask
How fast can you get here?
Usually within a day or two in Flagstaff, sometimes same-day if the route allows. Sedona, Verde Valley, and Williams run on scheduled route days — call and we'll tell you the next one.
Do I need to be home?
For a standard appointment, yes — we need you to approve the price before we start. For curbside-only jobs, check out our Route Day pickup: prepaid curbside customers don't need to be home at all.
What if I'm not sure it'll all fit?
That's our problem, not yours. Show us the pile, we'll tell you honestly what it takes — one load, two loads, or "that's bigger than it looks, here's the real number." We'd rather under-promise than surprise you.
Do you really donate stuff?
Yes. Usable furniture and working appliances get sorted for donation on every load. It's not a marketing line — it's just what happens between your curb and the landfill.
What about stairs and genuinely heavy items?
Stairs are fine. Pianos, safes, hot tubs, cast-iron everything — the heavier and more awkward it is, the more sense it makes to hire it out instead of throwing out your back. That's literally what we're for.
How is this different from Route Day curbside pickup?
Route Day is our budget curbside service: you drag it to the curb, we swing by on the scheduled route day, priced by our raccoon volume tiers. Full-service junk removal is the white-glove version — we come inside, do the walk-through, carry everything out ourselves, and sweep up. Different jobs, different prices, same crew.

What Household Junk Pickup Includes
Household junk pickup covers a lot more than a single old couch. Whether you need one item gone or a whole house cleared, AZ Haul's veteran-owned crew does the lifting, loading, and hauling, then sorts the load for donation and recycling before anything heads to the landfill. Here is what that looks like around the home and how to get the most out of your appointment.
Whole-Home Cleanouts
Moving out of state, settling a family member's estate, or clearing a rental after years of living in it all call for a whole-home household junk pickup. We work room by room, keep what you tell us to keep, and take everything else.
Single Items
Sometimes it is just the recliner, the old mattress, or a refrigerator that quit. Single-item household junk pickup is quick: we come in, carry it out, and you never have to figure out how to get it in a truck. Refrigerators, freezers, and AC units contain refrigerant and need proper handling, which the EPA explains in its appliance disposal guidance.
Garages and Sheds
Garages in Northern Arizona fill up fast, especially when winter pushes everything indoors. Old bikes, broken tools, boxes that never got unpacked, and sports gear nobody uses anymore are all fair game.
Yards
Broken patio furniture, old fencing, branches, and leftover landscaping materials can go too. Clearing dead brush and debris near your home also helps with wildfire readiness; Coconino County's Ready, Set, Go wildfire preparedness program has tips on defensible space.
Basements and Attics
Basements and attics are where things go to be forgotten. We handle stairs, tight corners, and heavy boxes so you do not have to.
How to Prep for Pickup Day
You do not have to do much, but a little prep makes the job faster.
- Decide what stays. Mark or set aside anything you want to keep. Painter's tape or a simple sign works.
- Pull out valuables and paperwork. Check drawers, pockets, and boxes for documents, photos, cash, and keepsakes.
- Clear a path. Make sure we can get from the item to the door, and let us know about stairs or narrow halls.
- Separate hazardous items. Paint, chemicals, and fuels cannot go in our truck. Flagstaff residents can take them to the city's Hazardous Products Center.
- Empty appliances. Clear out fridges and freezers, and disconnect water lines if you can.
- Send photos. A few pictures help us give you an accurate price before we arrive.
How Household Junk Pickup Pricing Is Set
We price household junk pickup by volume, meaning how much space your items take up in our truck, not by the hour. You get the price before any work starts, and it does not change partway through the job because the crew was slow or the stairs were steep.
Weight, access, and special items like appliances can affect the quote, and we will tell you why if they do. If you are not sure whether everything will fit, we look at the pile and give you a clear answer before loading.
Donation and Recycling Come First
A big share of what comes out of homes still has life left in it. Usable furniture, housewares, and working appliances get set aside for donation. Metal, electronics, and other recyclables get separated. Only what cannot be reused or recycled goes to the landfill.
If you would rather handle some of it yourself, the City of Flagstaff's Where to Take Waste guide lists local drop-off options for recycling and disposal.
Moving and Downsizing
Moving is the most common reason people call us. Hauling junk you do not want across town, or across the country, costs money and space. Booking a household junk pickup before the movers arrive means a smaller moving truck and a faster unpack.
Downsizing is its own challenge, especially for older homeowners moving into a smaller place or with family. We are patient, we take time to let you decide, and we can coordinate with adult children or estate representatives who are handling things from out of town. For larger estates, see our estate cleanout services.
