Update: Cinder Lake’s Hazardous Product Center Is Not Taking Business Waste
One important change to the disposal options above. The Hazardous Product Center at Cinder Lake Landfill is not currently accepting hazardous items from businesses. If you run a shop, a restaurant, a rental portfolio, or a contracting outfit in Flagstaff, that route is not open to you right now.
The categories people usually bring to the HPC are the ones affected: paint and stain, solvents and thinners, aerosols, used oil and filters, automotive fluids, batteries, pool chemicals, fluorescent tubes, and pesticides. Small quantities are not an exception. If the material came from a business, the HPC is not taking it at the moment.
What businesses can do instead
We are still collecting this material. Drop it off at our facility or schedule a pickup and we will come get it. Because moving hazardous material correctly costs real money, these items carry a surcharge that varies by item type, by where the material is located, and by quantity. We quote that up front rather than after the fact.
What comes in gets sorted, stored, and palletized. Full loads then go out to approved disposal and recycling facilities, including several in the valley. Batching material this way is what keeps the cost reasonable for a business with one shelf of old chemicals rather than a truckload.
Full details are on our commercial junk removal page. If you would rather just ask, send a list through the quote form and we will tell you what we can take and what it costs.
