Northern AZ Trash Pickup Guide 2026

City trash day, recycling day, the bulk pickup weeks, what the city won't take, and what to do with the stuff nobody picks up. One page, no digging through city PDFs.

City Curbside Basics

The short version of how Flagstaff's curbside program works:

●Trash day

Weekly curbside trash collection for city customers. Carts out by the morning of your collection day — check the city's schedule for your address.

●Recycling day

Weekly curbside recycling on its own schedule. Clean cardboard, paper, cans, and accepted plastics only — greasy pizza boxes and wish-cycling contaminate the whole load.

●Yard waste

Seasonal and program-dependent. Pine needles and branches usually have their own rules — check the city's current guidance before you pile it at the curb.

Schedules and accepted materials change. For the official word on your address, check the City of Flagstaff's solid waste pages — this guide covers the stuff people actually ask us about.

2026 City Bulk Pickup Weeks

Flagstaff runs bulk pickup by section, a few times a year. Weeks start Monday at 6 AM — have your items at the curb before then. Here are the remaining 2026 weeks:

Section 1

Week of October 19, 2026 — set out by Monday 6 AM

Section 2

Week of October 26, 2026 — set out by Monday 6 AM

Section 3

Week of November 2, 2026 — set out by Monday 6 AM

Section 4

Week of November 16, 2026 — set out by Monday 6 AM

Section 5

Week of November 30, 2026 — set out by Monday 6 AM

Not sure which section you're in? The city's bulk pickup map and schedule tool will tell you — search "Flagstaff bulk trash pickup" on the city's site and enter your address.

What the City Bulk Program Won't Take

Bulk pickup is generous, but it has limits. As a rule, the city won't take:

●Hazardous materials

Paint, solvents, chemicals, oil, batteries, propane — anything hazardous stays at your curb. See the hazmat section below.

●Oversized or overweight items

Anything the crew can't safely lift or that exceeds the program's size limits gets left behind.

●Construction & demolition debris

Remodel tear-out, roofing, concrete, dirt — bulk pickup isn't a construction dumpster.

●Items outside the rules

The city publishes a specific accepted/not-accepted list for each bulk event. When in doubt, check it before set-out day — a rejected pile sitting at your curb for a week helps nobody.

Hazardous Waste: Read This Before You Load the Truck

⚠Businesses: the Hazardous Products Center is not currently accepting your hazmat

The Hazardous Products Center (HPC) at Cinder Lake Landfill is not currently accepting hazardous items from businesses — including:

  • Paint and stain
  • Solvents
  • Aerosols
  • Used oil and oil filters
  • Automotive fluids
  • Batteries
  • Pool chemicals
  • Fluorescent tubes
  • Pesticides

Small quantities are no exception. If you're a business with any of the above, the HPC cannot take it right now — don't make the drive just to be turned away.

What Businesses Can Do Instead

The HPC door being closed doesn't mean your hazmat has to live in the back room forever. AZ Haul still collects business hazmat:

●Drop-off or scheduled pickup

Bring it to us or we'll come get it — whatever fits your schedule.

●Surcharge quoted up front

The surcharge varies by item, location, and quantity. You get the number before we touch anything — same as every AZ Haul job.

●Sorted, stored & palletized

Material is sorted, stored, and palletized properly — then full loads go to approved facilities. No shortcuts, no mystery dumping.

Households: the HPC restrictions above apply to businesses. Flagstaff households should check the HPC's current household drop-off guidance before heading to Cinder Lake.

When the City Can't Help, We Can

Missed your bulk week? Pile too big? Items the city won't touch? That's the gap AZ Haul exists to fill:

●Missed bulk week pickups

Your section's week came and went and the pile is still there. We pick up what the city missed, any week of the year.

●Full-service junk removal

We come in, do the walk-through, give you an upfront price, carry it all out, and sweep up. See how it works →

●Route Day curbside

The budget option: you get it to the curb, we grab it on the scheduled route day. See Route Day →

Trash Guide FAQ

When is my bulk pickup week?

Flagstaff runs bulk pickup by section. The remaining 2026 weeks are: Section 1 — October 19, Section 2 — October 26, Section 3 — November 2, Section 4 — November 16, Section 5 — November 30. Weeks start Monday at 6 AM. Check the city's bulk pickup map to confirm your section.

What if I miss my bulk week?

The pile doesn't have to sit there until next time. AZ Haul does missed-bulk-week pickups year-round — same kind of curbside stuff, on your schedule instead of the city's. Or check out our Route Day curbside service for the budget option.

Does the city take hazardous waste?

Not in bulk pickup, and not at the curb, ever. Households have the Hazardous Products Center at Cinder Lake Landfill — check its current hours and accepted-items list before you go. Businesses: the HPC is not currently accepting business hazmat at all (see above).

I'm a business with old paint and chemicals. What now?

Don't drive it to the HPC — you'll be turned away. AZ Haul collects business hazmat by drop-off or scheduled pickup, with the surcharge quoted up front based on item, location, and quantity. Get a quote →

Do you serve outside Flagstaff?

Yes — Sedona and the Village of Oak Creek, Cottonwood and the Verde Valley, Williams, Munds Park, Kachina Village, Doney Park, and Parks. Full service area list →
